Amazing DIY Hanging Wire Lamp

full_wire_lamp_6

Time: 1 Hour

Difficulty: Medium

What you will need:

  • Wire Basket

Steps:

  1. Supplies- wire basket, lamp cord set available at Ikea, edison-style bulb available from West Elm, and wire cutters

    full_wire_lamp_3

  2. Now the only difficult part is to measure and cut the circle that you will need for your cord set. I did this by measuring around the top side of the lamp set and cutting out what looks like a little throwing star from the center of the wire basket.

    full_wire_lamp_1

  3. You can then thread your cord set plug side up through the hole, screw in your bulb, and you’re done. That easy!

How To: Drill Holes Into Stones

full_rock1

Time: 5 Seconds

Difficulty: Simple

What you will need:

  • Rotary Tool
  • Drill Press (if you have one. Otherwise, just use a pair of locking pliers)
  • Unwanted Plastic Container
  • 2 cu Water , depending
  • Stones or glass (This works for flat marbles, if you're up to that challenge)
  • Rotary Tool Diamond Tip

Steps:

  1. These are your materials (stones/glass, plastic container you don’t want, rotary tool, diamond tip). Assemble! (Not pictured: Water)

    full_DSCN2469

  2. So first take your rotary tool, and get a diamond head. Diamond heads usually look like this.

    full_RSCN2482

  3. Put that on the drill. Now pour your water into the unwanted plastic container. Put a small rock into the container. Add water until the water level comes up just above it. Switcho on your drill and, trying to keep it level, start to drill into the stone under the water. Try to keep it straight! If you have a drill press, it’s best to use that.
In this image, I’m not holding it. For camera purposes. But really, hold it with your pliers. Please. That’s a better idea than your hands
