As an avid reader, I love buying books–used and new alike. Their musty smell, the broken binding signifying wear and love, the promise in opening the first page and beginning a journey. Sadly, in this age of the Kindle, electronic books are rendering the regular ones obsolete. Kindle is great for saving trees, but I love holding a book in my hand and manually turning the pages. As books increasingly become relics of the past, I often feel one of a dying breed when I peruse the stacks at my library or browse Barnes and Noble.
If you’re a book lover or collector like me, then you probably have tons of them lying around. And beyond reading, they are fantastic for decorating. Use bookshelves creatively to build a unique and vibrant space. Have them stacked on your coffee table as a conversation starter. Organize them by color and create an eye-pleasing palette.
